This happens a lot and i don’t know why, cause it was connected a moment ago.
What to do??
Do you have a mesh network? It seems like some networks will not beidge the Denon traffic between nodes. It can work when your phone is connected to one node and not when it is connected to another. But it is difficult to know which node the phone is connected to.
Also, do you use other apps or hardware that talk to the AVR? Some AVRs limit the number of network connections that can be open and will refuse connection if the slots are occupied. Especially in old models. Which model do you have?
Also, have you tried a proper reset of your AVR? Holding the power button until it restarts? That could help if it has ended up in an internal state that causes this.

I have a wifi range extender.
My marantz sr6012 is connected with a cable.
Next time the app won’t respond, I’ll try the reset of the reciever.
Does DENONs own app work, and have you tried disconnected the range extender for trouble shooting?
